As of December 2021, your Plumb’s subscription will come with a number of new features and all-new, original clinical content, written and reviewed by the experts.
Here’s a quick guide to everything you need to know to hit the ground running when your account automatically upgrades.
What’s Plumb’s Pro?
Prescribing is just one part of veterinary practice. Plumb’s is ready to support you through all kinds of clinical decisions. With Plumb’s Pro, you get a full suite of clinical decision support that helps you prepare to care for patients:
- Clinical Briefs that review key details of clinical conditions and signs
- Expert guidance that helps prepare you for patients who are especially ill or clients who can’t elect for optimal care
- Algorithms that help you find a clear path forward when diagnosis or treatment get complicated
- Pet owner guides that highlight what clients really need to know about their pet’s condition
- Plus, continued access to the tools already at your fingertips—including the first-of-its-kind drug interaction checker for veterinary patients
What do I have to do to get access?
You can access Plumb’s Pro the same way you access your Plumb’s Veterinary Drugs subscription. Simply visit app.plumbs.com from your web browser (eg, Google Chrome, Safari) on any internet-connected device.
For now, access to Plumb’s Pro is available through any web browser. The new features will be coming to the iOS and Android apps in summer 2022. Until then, you can still access the full drug reference and support tools you’re accustomed to in the existing app.
Remember, the app is free to download with your subscription.
What can I do with Plumb’s Pro?
You get practitioner-level clinical decision support with Plumb’s Pro. Here are 5 things you can do with this powerful new tool at your fingertips.
1. Confidently choose the next step for your patient.
Whether your patient is just on paper or already on the table, you can turn clinical signs into confident diagnoses and diagnoses into treatment plans with the Plumb’s Pro library of diagnostic and management trees.
How to Access
Select Algorithms from the Clinical Tools drop-down in the main navigation. Search by topic or keyword or scroll to browse the full library. Click on the title to open and review the algorithm.
2. Find the relevant clinical answers you need—fast.
Our studying brain isn’t the same as our “uh-oh, a GDV is coming in” brain. Depend on Clinical Briefs when you need to quickly review details for an incoming patient (or one that’s already on the table).
How to Access
Select Clinical Briefs from the Clinical Tools drop-down in the main navigation. Search by disease or clinical sign. Click on the quick links to jump to key sections, like presentation and treatment. Or click on the title to open the full Clinical Brief.
3. Prepare for real-life challenges.
Make sure you’re ready to handle patients that don’t read the textbook with Clinical Challenges, an exclusive Plumb’s Pro feature designed to guide you through tricky situations and grey areas you might encounter in practice.
How to Access
Browsing a Clinical Brief? Look for Clinical Challenges in the table of contents. A quick click will jump you to that section.
4. Be an extra-valuable extern.
Want to show off your client education skills on external rotations? Easy-to-share handouts on clinical conditions and medications help keep pet owners informed and appointments on schedule.
How to Access
Select Pet Owner Guides from the main navigation. Search by clinical condition or drug name. Click on the plus icon to select multiple guides and download, print, or email them together.
5. Save your most important tips and protocols.
There’s a lot you need to remember, from drug protocols to physical exam templates and discharge notes. Save time and brain space: build a library of personalized notes in Plumb’s, and take them with you when you graduate.
How to Access
Look for the note icon in monographs. You can attach notes to specific content, like drug monographs and Clinical Briefs. You can also create general notes from your home screen by clicking New Note.
How do I renew?
Renewal is easy! Once your current subscription term expires, simply reverify your student status with SheerID and then sign into Plumb’s. You’ll enter your new code on the Subscription Details page and confirm your payment information to get another 12 months of access for $19.95.
Will I be charged when my account upgrades?
Nope! This Plumb’s Pro upgrade is available automatically with your current subscription at no additional charge. If you’re still in school when it’s time to renew, you can resubscribe for $19.95 a year—a fraction of the full practitioner price (and savings of more than $900).

We offer special discounts on both Plumb's Pro and Plumb's Veterinary Drugs to graduating students. Please reach out to us to learn more.
Preparing for a career in pharmacy?
