Every drug monograph in Plumb’s—whether you’re using the app on your phone or signing in from your computer browser—is designed to get you to the information you need in 2 clicks or less.
Each drug monograph follows the same predictable format, so whether you’re reviewing methimazole or metoclopramide, all the information you need is in the same place.
Anatomy of a Drug Monograph
Here are a few of the key features and tools you’ll notice when you first open a drug monograph in the Plumb’s app on your phone or tablet. You’ll also see these features when viewing Plumb’s on your browser via a laptop or computer as well—they’ll just look a little different.
Let's dive in and take a closer look at a few features that will help you quickly find your way around a Plumb’s drug monograph.
Quick Links
At the top of most monographs, you'll find 3 quick links.
- Interaction Checker: Tap this button to add the drug you're viewing to the interaction checker to review drug-to-drug interactions.
- Drug Handout: Click on this button to view and share the pet owner handout for this medication by emailing, printing, or downloading and attaching in your client communication software.
- Add/Edit Note: Attach personal notes to the drug monograph just like you would in your textbook (only these ones are a bit harder to lose).
Shortcuts to Dosing
Also at the top of the drug monograph, just after the Add Note option, you’ll see two big blue buttons: Dosages and Dosage Forms. When you tap on one of these buttons, it will jump you straight to that section and automatically expand the section for you.
💡Tip
To get to another section from Dosages or Dosage Forms, tap on the Table of Contents menu at the top of your screen (look for the icon with three dots and three lines) and select any section from the drop-down list. You can also tap Back to Top to return to the beginning of the monograph.
Open or Close All Sections
The sections in the drug monograph are automatically collapsed, so you can easily access the section you need without scrolling through all the content.
But if you prefer to review all the details before you prescribe (we're looking at you, veterinary pharmacists), tap Open All at the bottom of your screen to expand all the sections.
Tap Close All to collapse them again or Back to Top to jump back to the top of the monograph at any time.
Table of Contents
At the top of your screen, you’ll see an icon with three dots and three lines. This is the table of contents. Just tap to expand. You’ll see a full list of the sections in the drug monograph. Each section title is clickable, so you can tap to jump directly to that section.
