So your hospital offers access to Plumb’s—that's great news! Review this article to learn more about how Plumb’s works and how you can use it, whether you're working up a case or educating a pet owner. We’ll also cover a few key features you might not know about (like pet owner handouts and the drug interaction checker) and explain how to use them. Let’s dive in!
This is what your home page will look like if your hospital has Plumb's Pro and you're signing in from a web browser like Google Chrome or Safari.
Get started with Plumb's
Before we get started, a quick note: Some hospitals choose to subscribe to Plumb's Veterinary Drugs only. If that's the case for your hospital, you'll see a solid navy toolbar on the left side of your screen and will only have access to the prescribing information and tools (eg, drug monographs, drug interaction checker, drug handouts). Now that's out of the way, let's really dive in!
Many hospital-wide Plumb’s subscriptions are IP-authenticated, which essentially means that you need to be connected to your hospital network in order to access Plumb's.
Once you’re on the network, simply type app.plumbs.com/auth into any web browser (eg, Google Chrome, Safari).
If you’re not at the hospital or your IP address isn’t recognized, you might see this message. Typically, your practice manager can direct you to the right place to get this resolved.
Explore
Start exploring! Enter a clinical topic or drug name in the search bar, browse the features via your handy toolbar, or experiment with the drug interaction checker.
Note: Clinical content like Dx & Tx and algorithms are exclusive to Plumb's Pro subscriptions. Check with your practice manager if you need access to the full suite of clinical support.
Start typing a clinical sign, condition, or keyword into the search bar. Results will automatically populate.

Here are 3 avenues to explore to get the most from your subscription.
1. Share pet owner handouts
Explore two types of easy-to-understand handouts for pet owners: Clinical Handouts (Pro) and Drug Handouts. They answer common client questions about diseases, conditions, medications, and more. And they’re a breeze to print or email.

2. Choose next steps with an algorithm (Pro)
These diagnostic and management trees help you find a path forward, even when a case gets complicated. BONUS: Found an algorithm you’d like to reference often? Click the star icon to save it to your favorites for easy access later.
3. Get the latest guidance for diagnosis and treatment
Search the library of Dx & Tx monographs (Pro) by disease or clinical sign to find clear, actionable recommendations to help you diagnose and treat conditions like immune thrombocytopenia.
