Plumb’s™ is designed to help you quickly make confident clinical decisions for your patients, which means our top priority is ensuring the information we provide is comprehensive, accurate, and up to date.
Making sure you can easily find what you need and move on to your next patient is equally crucial.
So we’re making improvements to the Plumb’s™ web and native apps to ensure you can effortlessly find the information you need right when you need it. The following changes will roll out gradually over the next few months, so watch your email for updates.
But first, because the difference between “web app” and “native app” might not be immediately clear, a brief explanation: You can access Plumb’s™ either through a desktop or mobile browser via app.plumbs.com (this is the web app) or via the Apple or Android app on your phone or tablet (this is the native app). The majority of these updates are coming to the web app, but some will bring helpful improvements to the native app experience as well. Read on for the details!
Note: Further adjustments are possible between the publication of this article and the release of these improvements, so the screenshots below may not exactly reflect the final experience. We'll be adding more information as it becomes available. Please check back periodically (or keep an eye on your email) for updates.
What You Can Look Forward To
More seamless navigation
We’re making changes to the navigation menu to make it easier to find exactly what you’re looking for. Curious? Keep scrolling.
Check out our name changes.
Educating your client about a new medication or clinical condition? Our easy-to-share pet owner resources, which you might know as Pet Owner Guides, are becoming Handouts.
Pro-Tip: If you're accessing app.plumbs.com via your phone's browser, tap on the three lines in the top left corner of your screen to open the navigation. In the native app, you'll find Handouts on the Features tab or in your search results.
In addition, our two types of pet owner handouts are getting new names, too. Medication guides are becoming drug handouts and our Pro-exclusive patient guides are becoming clinical handouts. You'll see both listed in the navigation menu.
Two more name changes you'll notice in the navigation of the web and native apps:
- The Drug Interaction Checker will become Interaction Checker.
- You’ll click on Drugs when you’re looking for drug monographs.
Look for the appendix in the top navigation menu.
It’ll be easier than ever to find helpful supporting information on toxins, blood products, overdose treatments, and more. Just tap Appendix in the top navigation or from the features page in the native app.
New compact views for faster navigation
Our new compact view means you’ll be able to find the information you need with less scrolling, and it’ll be easier than ever to find the Interaction Checker and your Notes while reviewing a drug or clinical monograph.
All sections will also be automatically collapsed, so you can just click to expand and jump straight to the content you need. If you've used the native app on your Apple or Android device, you're already familiar with this experience.
Handouts that open within the app
Handouts (formerly guides) will now open right within the web app—no need to open a new tab—so they’ll be easier to read on a small screen or your mobile device. And they’ll still be just as easy to print and email.
Easier evaluation of drug interactions
When you enter a drug into the Interaction Checker, you will now be able to see the full list of interactions listed in Plumb’s™ for that drug, organized by interaction risk. To narrow results, add more drugs to your list.
Finding content with less scrolling
All content pages (like the page for Drugs, Dx & Tx) will be collapsed and sorted by letter, so you can click on the letter to expand a section and browse available topics. Your Notes will be right there, too—always at the top of the page with the new and updated information for that content type.
Search all content or easily filter your search by clicking on a specific content type like Clinical Handouts or Drugs. Our new collapsed list view for search means you’ll see more results on one page.
Step-by-step support even on smaller screens
Like the pet owner handouts, the Pro-exclusive algorithms will also open right within the web app, making them easier to read on a small screen or on your mobile device.
A whole new Plumb's™ experience
Ultimately, you’ll be getting a new interface that will make it even easier to find what you’re looking for and move on to your next patient (or sit down and enjoy your lunch break).
A new sidebar will stay with you on every page, so you can easily start a new search, navigate to different content, or jump into your Favorites or Notes—no matter where you are.
On your web app home screen, new Recently Viewed and Top Viewed sections will make it easy to get back into what you were just looking at, too.
Overall, we’re refreshing Plumb’s™ based on feedback from you, our subscribers. Every single step of design and development has been guided by practicing veterinarians. These updates will make it even easier to find all the trusted information you expect from Plumb’s™—no matter your workflow.
